Today was supposed to be the release date for Kanye West’s new album ‘Jesus is King’ but just like ‘Yandhi’ there has been no show.

It’s been over a year since Kanye West released his eighth solo album ‘Ye’. The experimental LP received mixed reviews from his vast and loyal fan base but despite divided opinions on his recent music and his larger than life persona, a Kanye album release is always an occasion marked in the calendars of hip-hop heads.

This time last year his followers were promised more music when he tweeted the release date of his supposedly upcoming album ‘Yandhi’. The album was supposed to drop on the 29th September 2018. He even had artwork and a feature from the deceased rapper XXXTentacion lined up. However, the date passed and there was no sign of Mr West.

Weeks then months passed and all we had from Kanye was seeing him constantly plastered across the news for his controversial pro-Trump stance and comments about slavery. Slowly, fans began to give up hope on ‘Yandhi’ and even worse started to worry for the mental health of the superstar who seemed to be getting tipped over the edge.

But then, a few months ago, Ye took us to church. ‘Leaked’ footage of Kanye orchestrating a gospel choir came to be labelled ‘Sunday Service’ and got the world talking once again. Footage of a somewhat reformed, smiling Kanye bouncing up and down to the Christian sounds of his creation threw him back into the limelight but this time for all the right reasons. Fans were relieved to see him looking happy and excited by the sounds he was producing.

Once again fans were thrown into a frenzy when his wife Kim Kardashian posted a tweet of a notepad with the track list of Kanye’s next venture ‘Jesus Is King’.  Religious inspired song names included ‘God Is’, ‘Sunday’ and ‘Sweet Jesus’ whilst there was also mention of a release date – Today.  Just days ago there were reports of delays to the album and now the release day has rolled around we once again have no sign of Kanye West.
